11 for Health

“11 for Health” is an Erasmus+ initiative dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children and youth through football-based education. By combining physical activity, health education, and cross-sector collaboration, the project promotes healthier lifestyles and encourages positive behavioral changes among school-aged children.

Through engaging football training sessions, grassroots outreach, and educational campaigns, we aim to raise awareness about key health issues, combat sedentary behavior, and support children in making informed choices about their well-being. By connecting schools, football clubs, and sports institutions across Europe, the “11 for Health” project seeks to foster a culture of cooperation, inclusion, and sustainable health promotion.

Join us in using the power of football to build a healthier future for the next generation.

About

Tackling Youth Health Challenges

“11 for Health” is a transnational Erasmus+ project that addresses one of the most pressing challenges facing today’s youth: the growing prevalence of physical inactivity, childhood obesity, and poor mental well-being. Rooted in a scientifically proven methodology and inspired by FIFA’s original 11 for Health concept, this initiative aims to promote healthy lifestyle habits through the powerful medium of recreational football.

Football Meets Health Education

The project targets children aged 8–11 and seeks to enhance their physical fitness, mental and social well-being, and overall health literacy by integrating football training with key health messages. Delivered over an 11-week period, the programme uses pair-based exercises and small-sided games to engage children in enjoyable, educational, and inclusive activities that foster lifelong healthy habits.

Digital Support and Coach Empowerment

A digital platform, developed in accordance with EU standards and child protection policies, will provide coaches and educators with high-quality video demonstrations of football exercises related to the 11 for Health concept. In addition to that, the digital handbook will complement the platform, ensuring a high-quality description of the concept and appropriate football content to assist coaches and educators in regular implementation.

Comprehensive Support and Impact Measurement

All participants, including coaches, educators, and children, will be supported with tailored training, starter equipment packs, and access to workshops and educational festivals. The project will also conduct pre- and post-testing to assess the physical and psychological benefits of participation, using scientifically validated tools and methods.

Objectives

The project’s main objectives (O) are to:

Promoting Holistic Well-being Through Football Training
Promote and give a better health profile, physical fitness, mental and social well-being, and greater health awareness through football training.
Encouraging an Active and Healthy Lifestyle for All
Encouraging a healthy lifestyle for all and supporting the promotion of sport and physical activity as a tool for health.
Empowering Coaches and Educators with Digital Resources
Develop and disseminate high-quality, video-based content and a comprehensive digital handbook that present the 11 for Health concept in an accessible and practical format, thereby supporting coaches, school teachers, and sports professionals in effectively integrating the programme into their daily educational and training activities.

Target groups

The 11 for Health project is designed to engage a diverse range of stakeholders who play a vital role in promoting health, education, and physical activity among children. Our approach is inclusive, community-driven, and rooted in the belief that football can serve as a powerful tool for social change and health education.
At the heart of the project are school-aged children, particularly those in the 3rd to 5th grades. The programme aims to enhance their physical fitness, develop motor skills, and promote awareness of key health topics such as nutrition, hygiene, physical activity, and emotional well-being through enjoyable and inclusive football sessions.

Primary school teachers and PE instructors are key facilitators of the 11 for Health programme. Through dedicated training and access to user-friendly educational materials (digital platform and handbook), the project equips educators with tools to incorporate football-based health education into their regular curricula, thereby enriching their pedagogical approach.

The project targets grassroots coaches and trainers who work directly with children at the community level. These individuals are empowered with innovative teaching resources and training that align with UEFA and EU standards, enabling them to deliver health-promoting activities beyond traditional sports instruction.

Parents play an essential supporting role in reinforcing healthy behaviors at home. The project is focused on raising awareness among families about the benefits of physical activity and the core messages of the 11 for Health programme.
